Southwestern
Oregon Community College
1988 Newmark, Coos Bay (541) 888-2525 is located in the
heart of Oregon’s scenic south coast. The campus is in a 125-acre
wooded area of Empire Lakes.
Tuition at
Southwestern is the same for in-state and out-of-state students.
Students working toward a degree or certificate are eligible for
financial aid. A student housing complex, Fitness Center and Food
Service is available.
In addition
to first and second year college level courses, Southwestern provides a
variety of career programs. Most degree programs may be entered during
any quarter of the year. Upper division courses are offered through
extension programs of Linfield
College, Southern Oregon University,
Eastern Oregon University and Oregon State

Southwestern
Business Development Center
The
Southwestern Oregon Community College Business Development Center
provides business owners and entrepreneurs with a wide range of services
and resources, including free and confidential business advising, short
and long-term business training, and business resource information and
research assistance.
The Business
Development Center works in cooperation with the Oregon International
Port of Coos Bay to manage the business incubator at the Business Center
in North Bend.
The
University of Oregon Institute of Marine Biology
Occupying a
107-acre site in Charleston, the facility conducts research and offers
courses in marine biology and related fields.
PRIMARY
AND SECONDARY EDUCATION
Well-coordinated
programs provide students with strong basic skills and specialized
training. Both school districts offer a broad range of interscholastic
sports programs for both sexes.

Harding Learning Center which incorporates several alternative-school

One high
school (North Bend High), one middle school, two elementary schools
plus two Charter schools within one of the elementary schools.

The area is
served by several private Christian schools, including
Kingsview
Christian (K-12), Lighthouse Charter School (K-6) as well as several Alternative schools, such as
Alternative
Youth Activities, Inc.
The South
Coast Education Service District (ESD),
serving Coos and Curry Counties, offers public school districts and
their students a variety of special programs and services.
